Dish TV vs Sun DTH

Dish TV has announced a Hattrick offer to counter the growing Sun DTH in the South Market. Dish Tv has about 3.5 million subscribers all over India and claims 56% share, While Sun DTH by its low cost and multiple choice offers has already 1 million subscribers from just four southern states and is planning all India operation soon.

Here is a quick comparison between both offers.

Sun DTH- 999 plus 1000 for Installation

2. Channel List in basic package
a. No English News channel in Dish package. The News channels offered are India TV, NDTV INDIA, ZEE News, Total TV, Aaj Tak, Samay and Live India. While in Sun DTH, NDTV, NDTV profit, X news, Star news, UTV news, Jain news and NDTV India are in basic package.
b. Many more regional channels in SUN DTH. In Tamil Makkal, Win, Mega, Jaya plus, are there in Sun but not in Dish. The other popular Tamil Channels like Sun, Vijay, Kalaignar, Jaya are in both.
c. In case of other regional languages, Zee is absent in Sun. Zee Tamil is also starting by July end which will be absent in Sun? In Kannada there are 11 channels in Dish while only 8 in Sun. [plus doordarshan]
d. Dish offers five sports channel for the first year free They are Ten sports, ESPN, Zee sports. Star sports and Star cricket. Ten sports comes at Rs 20, Zee at 15 and Set Max at Rs 20 extra each in Sun DTH. The other sports channel are not in offer as of now.
e. For kids at additional 55 Rs Sun offers almost all popular kids channels of today. No such offer in Dish.
f. Sun offers bindaas movies, UTV movies and world movie channels in its basic package. MGM movie channel , TCM and kids channel Booemrang are in Dish They also offer 33 free movies to be seen in six months from subscription which should have a max of 5 English movies. It seems they release Movies every Thursday and you can choose to buy them by sms. Right now there is a Telugu movie and some Hindi and English films in air. Terminator -3,Aadavaari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule (Telugu),Jumangi, Jab we met, Zameer, Deewar are movies for this week in Dish. The forthcoming films are Mera jeevan Saathi, Karam, Kisna, Basic Instinct, Lady Killers and AAta. Again Tamil is disappointing.
g.Free 12 months gaming in playjam is offered in Dish. No such offer in Sun DTH.
h. Both Channels do not have Timesnow in the basic. Dish offers it in Dish maxi which is 300rs per month which has almost all channels. In Sun it is not in any choice.
i. After the first year SUN will be 75 per month, while Dish will be 100 per month plus may be more for sports etc. The films are also free only for six months.

Verdict: if you have decided for a DTH, choose Dish if you are a bored northerner living in south India. If you are Tamilian choose only SUN DTH which is better worth. For other southerners also Sun is a better choice unless you are lured by free Eng/Hindi movies and gaming.
